By touring Rajasthan you can discover the ethnic lifestyles, traditions and unspoilt nature of the royal village of India. We invite you to experience the adventure of Camel safari and Cycling, which will take you through the famous and remote palaces and forts of northern India, including the spectacular Taj Mahal in Agra. At night our crew and musicians will entertain you by capturing the desert’s atmosphere. We will also set off for the remotest regions of the golden sands of the vast Thar Desert, away from where the Rajasthan camel rides take place.
After three days of camel safari, we will visit the walled cities of Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, and the Pink City of Jaipur before commencing our cycle ride. In fact, we offered our first cycle trip in Rajasthan in 1978 and since then it has become the most popular, easy and enjoyable activity .As you cycle the quieter country roads you will find yourself at the wonder land where life is still in harmony with the seasons. If you haven't cycled since your school days, you needn’t worry. The roads are flat, the days are not strenuous and we provide a backup vehicle for your convenience.
You’ll meet the driver at the airport/ railway station. He will take you to the hotel and will make you get settled in your room. Overnight stay at hotel.
Group briefing followed by sightseeing in Old and New Delhi, including the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid. Later in the afternoon, we will proceed for Rewari station, 75 kms from the hotel, for the overnight train to Bikaner.
Day 3: Arrival at Bikaner, transfer to Chemana, commence camel ride (approximately 3 hrs):
After Breakfast in Bikaner, we will drive to the Chemana village to commence camel ride. Camel safari will be up to the campsite at Khanag sar. Dinner at camp followed by the musicians entertaining with folksongs.
Early start to complete 6-7 hours of camel ride through desert Scrubland. En route we will visit the isolated desert villages and enjoy the camel men’s introduction to their lifestyle. Arrival at campsite at Balasar, set on a sand plateau.
Day 5: Camel ride to Jamba (6 hrs):
Jamba is the home of our camel men and we can be assured of a warm welcome. The villagers will join us late in the evening as we celebrate our last night in the desert.
we board our bus for the short drive to Jaisalmer. The afternoon is free to wander the bustling market located within the fort in Jaisalmer.
visit the Jaisalmer fort and the Jain temples, containing many intricate carvings. Exploration of the 'Havelis', the mansions of the wealthy merchants who made their fortunes at a time when Jaisalmer was situated on the old trade route between the Arabian Sea and the markets of Central India.
early start to reach Jodhpur by lunchtime to allow a free afternoon to visit Meherangarh Fort, Situated on a 125-m-high hill. From the upper ramparts of the fort, we will have 360 degree views of the entire city. Visit the palaces and museums reflecting the rich cultural history of the region.
'Pink City' of Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan, founded by Maharaja Jai Singh in the early 18th century, visiting the Hawa Mahal(the Palace of the Winds), originally built as part of the City Palace complex , the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar; the remarkable observatory that reflect Jai Singh's passion for astronomy.
cycling along the Ramgargh road, one of the quieter veins leading out of Jaipur. Lunch under a huge Banyan tree at Ramgarh Lake. After lunch we cycle on to our camp spot; in a true rural setting, with endless fields of various crops. Visit the local village before establishing the camp at night.
riding through mustard plantations to Sariska Tiger Reserve, once home of a significant population of tigers.
ride through a number of small villages to Rajgarh; continue cycling another 15km before boarding the bus to Bharatpur.
cycle to the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, where swamp lands provide habitats for hundreds of bird species. Travel in our vehicle for about 20km to Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar’s deserted capital, before continuing on to Agra.
sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan's mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal followed by Agra Fort, a fitting testimony to the Great Moghuls – Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan, drive back to Delhi that afternoon where our trip concludes.
